IoT gateway connects shop floor components to the cloud
The trick behind Industry 4.0 lies in integrated data communication. At Festo, this was recognized at an early stage and valve terminals, handling systems, etc. have already been made IoT-ready.

The business transactions of the future should be easier. The key to this is networking, adaptability, energy efficiency and new business models. But without a secure cloud connection, none of this is possible. And that includes Industry 4.0. Festo ( Hall 15, Stand D11 ) is promising a secure connection solution for machine and system designers with significant energy gains for the entire system in the form of its CPX-IoT IoT gateway , which was launched in 2017.
The role of the CPX-IoT IoT gateway is to establish the communication connection for components at field level , for example for the Festo Motion Terminal , the MSE6-E2M energy efficiency module or the various handling systems, with the Festo cloud via their OPC-UA interface. The CPX-IoT can provide up to 31 components and modules at shop floor level with real-time connectivity. The data stored in the cloud is monitored and processed there. This is the basis for early-warning systems with automatic notification functions for incidents, but can also be used for business intelligence and trend analyses. A dashboard function is also integrated into the CPX-IOT IoT gateway. Each Festo element in use can be configured individually and analyzed with traffic lights and diagrams in a web browser.
