With a global workforce of around 2600 employees and annual sales of 385 million euros, WITTENSTEIN SE is known, both at home and abroad, for its innovation, precision and excellence in the field of mechatronic drive technology. Headquartered in Igersheim, the group is made up of six innovative business divisions, each with its own subsidiaries - servo gearboxes, servo drive systems, medical technology, miniature servo units, innovative gearing technology, rotary and linear actuator systems, nanotechnology, and electronic and software components for drive technology. WITTENSTEIN SE is exhibiting at this year's HANNOVER MESSE under the slogan "Get started: play IIoT smart & simple" and is putting those words into practice with the market launch of smart gearboxes featuring "cynapse" from WITTENSTEIN alpha. This exciting product premiere is firmly embedded in the digitization strategy the group has been pursuing for over a decade.

Gearboxes equipped with "cynapse" feature an integrated sensor module. This module ensures that both process data and influencing environmental parameters that impact on the gearbox during operation can be identified and measured, and output via an IO link. In other words, these "cynapse" gearboxes allow users to record parameters such as temperature, vibration, operating hours and mounting position and communicate them to the cloud level using the standardized connectivity of the IO link interface and an IO link master. This information can be used both there as well as in the machine's immediate vicinity, for example, to optimize the availability and productivity of processes and equipment in condition monitoring or predictive maintenance applications. Gearboxes with "cynapse" can therefore provide universal connectivity, allowing data to flow to both the company’s own machine infrastructure and to all standard IIoT platforms.
