With the new MD-U series, KEYENCE presents a UV marking laser that sets new standards in precision, versatility, and process reliability. By combining a short UV wavelength of 355 nanometers with highly dynamic 3-axis control, the system offers exceptional marking quality on a wide range of materials – from transparent plastic and glass to coated metals.

According to KEYENCE, the key advantage lies in the ability to precisely position the laser beam in three dimensions. This allows even uneven, curved, or inclined surfaces to be marked evenly and without distortion. The 3-axis technology automatically corrects focus deviations, ensuring consistently high quality across the entire marking field—without the need for time-consuming mechanical adjustments.

Since UV lasers are based on photochemical reactions rather than thermal effects, even heat-sensitive materials can be processed gently. The result is high-contrast, fine markings without burns or melt marks – ideal for electronic components, medical components, or optical elements, for example.

The MD-U series also offers practical features for industrial integration: An integrated camera supports focusing and positioning processes, autofocus functions simplify handling, and modern interfaces such as Ethernet/IP or PROFINET ensure seamless integration into automated production lines.
