Network capacities are not only becoming a scarce commodity in mechanical engineering and industry in the IoT era; logistics, smart cities and retail also need more capacity. Currently a major challenge is to provide far-reaching, energy efficient features for the next generation of IoT applications. NEC offers a solution with a new network server that is inherently LoRaWAN compliant. Long Range Wide Area Network is a low power wide area network (LPWAN) wireless standard that complements classic mobile networks with an IoT or M2M network with bidirectional communication.

Behind the LoRaWAN gateways, the new server takes over ID control, data rate control and channel assignment for LoRaWAN-compliant sensor devices. It also conveys data processing from each sensor device to the application server. The LoRa network server also includes a flexible multi-tenant and multi-device control capability that fits a variety of service formats. It is thus able to provide LoRaWAN network services to numerous enterprises and service providers.
