New motor series set to raise the bar
With the CM3P.. series, SEW-EURODRIVE is introducing a new generation of synchronous servomotors for industrial automation solutions. The series replaces the proven CMP.. series and expands the existing modular system. With this new motor series, SEW-EURODRIVE aims to set new standards in terms of dynamics, flexibility, and integration options.

SEW-EURODRIVE has now added the new CM3P.. series to its existing CM3.. modular motor system. According to the manufacturer, it is characterized by increased power density and higher nominal torques with the same installation space. Thanks to its low rotor inertia and high overload capacity, the series is said to impress with its high dynamics and acceleration capabilities. Mechanically and electrically, it is fully compatible with the previous series.
The new CM3P.. series can be integrated into various machine and system concepts. Thanks to their compact design, the motors are also suitable for use in very confined installation situations. With the help of SEW-EURODRIVE's comprehensive modular system, the motors can be adapted very flexibly to the respective application. Numerous options are available for brakes, encoder interfaces, electrical connection technology, and gearbox mounting. According to SEW-EURODRIVE, the CM3P.. series is ideal for production and processing machines as well as many other industrial applications in which low-inertia loads must be moved in the shortest possible cycle times.
The entire CM3P.. motor series comprises six sizes, each with three different lengths and three speed classes. In the final stage of development, standstill torques of 0.5 to 47 Newton meters will be available, with three motor sizes for the lower torque range currently in planning. According to their developers, all motors are designed to allow high overload. The synchronous motors can be optionally equipped with a spring-applied brake or permanent magnet holding brake. In addition to the MOVILINK DDI encoder interface from SEW-EURODRIVE, there are also versions with HIPERFACE and EnDat 2.2, which are suitable for applications with functional safety.
The motors of the CM3P.. series are optimally matched to the drive electronics components of the MOVI-C automation kit. Commissioning is carried out using the intuitive MOVISUITE software, with the electronic nameplate of the MOVILINK DDI single-cable technology further simplifying this step.
The new synchronous motor series is available now. SEW-EURODRIVE also offers comprehensive service and support. Customers benefit from expert technical advice, worldwide spare parts availability, and fast repair service. Through regular training and education programs, SEW-EURODRIVE wants to ensure that users are always up to date with the latest technology and can optimally integrate the motors into their applications.
