The Californian DSP Group , Emza Visual Sense from Israel and the Taiwanese company H imax Technologies have introduced a constantly active visual sensor called WiseEye IoT. It is able to discover, locate and count people in a room and assign them to a profile. Thanks to its machine-learning capabilities, the system is designed to improve its recognition performance by analyzing its environment.
WiseEye IoT is powered by batteries and should be integrated in the consumer environment, for example, in voice control and voice activation systems. In industrial applications, for example, the sensor can work together with heating and air conditioning systems to adapt their performance to the number of people present and thereby optimize it. When communicating with other devices on the Internet of Things, the WiseEye IoT uses ultra-low energy DECT-ULE , which consumes just 250 mW at full power.
