The new ROBOCUT from FANUC is designed to offer particular advantages to industries where large, complex components have to be machined to a high standard and at the highest speed. With a travel distance of 800 millimeters on the X-axis, 600 millimeters on the Y-axis and up to 500 millimeters on the Z-axis, the α-C-800iC is the largest model in the FANUC wire EDM machine range. However, with its tank unit, it remains compact and requires little space.

At its initial presentation, the ROBOCUT was shown cutting a complex turbine part made of rust-free stainless steel for the aerospace industry. The new model is now available throughout Europe. Michael Dost, Manager Sales South-West Germany, recalls: “At the EMO, we produced fir-tree slots in an engine rotor from the aerospace industry and used it to showcase the machine's cutting-edge technology. It is a difficult component with a very large distance from the flushing nozzle to the workpiece. But with the easily adjustable functions of the ROBOCUT, this is made easier. Even operators without specialized knowledge or skills can set up the machine to achieve optimal results.”

The α-CiC Series wire EDM machines offer a variety of advantages for parts weighing up to 3,000 kilograms. Features such as multi-workpiece cutting, a user-friendly CORE STITCH function, fill time of just 160 seconds with the Z500 option or 120 seconds with the standard Z-travel, fast Ten-second wire threading, automatic threading in the blade gap, precise dual servo wire tension control and a tempered workpiece table are designed to ensure maximum reliability and top performance. In addition, the ROBOCUT is easy to use, maintain and install – the epitome of efficiency according to FANUC.

The new Discharge Control also ensures high cut quality by stabilizing the process and thus supporting reliable high-speed machining. In addition, temperature compensation is designed to ensure machining accuracy (wire position) when temperatures change within a certain range. Also worth mentioning is the ROBOCUT-LINKi software, which enables real-time monitoring of the machine status to minimize downtime while also determining energy consumption.
