The world is once again witnessing swathes of people being forced by circumstances beyond their control to cross seas, mountains and borders in desperate search of refuge. On the receiving end, state institutions and aid organizations at home and abroad have to perform monitoring, reconnaissance and life-saving missions that are often very demanding. At HANNOVER MESSE 2016, InfraTec is exhibiting just the technology to at least simplify the authorities' tasks. Its Nyxus Bird thermal imager is a multi-functional surveillance device that is versatile enough to cover every requirement.
The 640×480 IR pixel geometric resolution of this night-vision thermal imaging system with uncooled infrared detector delivers outstanding image quality. Moreover, its thermal resolution of less than 0.08 K ensures even the minutest differences in temperature are clearly visible on the accurately detailed thermal images. A touch of a button is all it takes to switch between the high-resolution thermal image and crystal-clear direct view. Both modes use a high-precision laser rangefinder, and more distant targets can be measured and localized with the aid of the device’s integrated GPS and digital magnetic compass. The comfortable viewfinder and ergonomic, waterproof housing make it perfect for use on long missions, even under adverse environmental conditions.
