One control standard across several application areas - this was the goal that NORD set itself when developing the NORDAC PRO SK 500P. The result is a control cabinet inverter with features that enable a high degree of versatility and intelligent communication with system components. In this way, NORD wants to reduce the number of inverter variants and enable users to concentrate on one system in the long term.

Versatile integration

One of the key elements - as with all inverters in the NORDAC PRO series - is the integrated multi-protocol Ethernet interface. This allows the control component to be integrated into various networks without retrofitting. This includes the Profinet, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP and Powerlink protocols. Depending on the model, other protocols are also covered. The inverter can also be parameterized without voltage via a USB interface. The integrated PLC reacts independently to changes in the system processes. This enables it to relieve the higher-level control system. The POSICON positioning function implements various positioning tasks. It is equally capable of controlling relative or absolute positioning using incremental or absolute encoders. Sequential positioning of up to four axes is even possible via parameter set changeover.

Control from hoist to pump

Users can implement a wide range of industry-typical drive tasks with the NORDAC PRO SK 500P. The control cabinet inverter has vector control with an overload reserve of 200 percent. This makes it suitable for controlling geared motors in heavy-duty applications or in lifting systems. Its PI controller and integrated dancer control make it a suitable frequency inverter for pumps and winding systems. With its booksize format, the frequency inverter requires little space in the control cabinet and allows direct side-by-side mounting without any gaps.

Further sizes in preparation

The NORDAC PRO SK 500P can be used to control all motor types with and without encoder feedback. In order to make its advantages available in a wider power range, NORD is currently working on new sizes for the inverter. Together with geared motors, industrial gear units and electric motors from the NORD modular product system, this results in drive solutions that are technically and economically tailored to the respective application requirements. NORD supplies these completely from a single source. The system supplier also has access to a global network covering more than 80 countries.
