All three segments of German robotics and automation are on a strong growth course in 2017: According to a new forecast , industrial image processing will achieve sales increases of 18% instead of the initially expected 10%. This corresponds to industry sales of 2.6 billion euros. German robotics is also much more dynamic than expected: The original growth forecast of 8% has been raised to 15%. Estimated industry sales: 4.1 billion euros.
This result confirms the global robotics boom. Worldwide installations of industrial robots increased by 16% to 294,000 units in 2016 and are expected to reach 346,000 units in the current year. Germany is currently the fifth largest robotics market in the world and by far the largest in Europe. In turn, the largest sub-sector of German robotics and automation remains Integrated Assembly Solutions , the intelligent assembly and production solutions. For 2017, the VDMA forecasts a growth in sales of 6%, reaching a new record of 7.5 billion euros.
