Samsung is investing $22 billion in 5G, AI and IoT
Over the next three years, Samsung plans to invest more than $7 billion annually in the research and development of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). The Group is also doing so in an effort to encourage other companies to take action.

Head of Samsung Networks Europe, Thomas Riedel, announced this massive investment at the Mobile Business Summit 2018 in Madrid. At the same time, he appealed to the representatives of other companies to lay the technical foundations for improving the integration of their employees' working and private lives. In doing so, Riedel relied on a recent study , according to which almost one in two Europeans is willing to work outside of their office and regular working hours. "Samsung aims at cooperating with partners to implement an automated, AI-controlled mobile network that enhances enterprise productivity, intelligence and security," said Jeong Wook Tak, vice president of Samsung Enterprise Business.
The majority of German employers are rather skeptical regarding future technologies and mobile working. Studies such as the D21 Digital Index have shown this. The latter nevertheless also indicates that acceptance has increased noticeably in recent years and should continue to grow with the coming generation.
