The voice assistant from the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS is real smart: The dialog system can be trained for a wide variety of applications and, thanks to its specific knowledge, can answer complex questions in the related domains. The research team primarily leverages the latest techniques in machine learning, question answering, and intelligent knowledge networking based on knowledge graphs to address companies’ specific needs. For instance, in a manufacturing context, the system could report on the status of machines, answer questions about components produced, and retrieve real data for use in cyber-physical systems.
For its premier, the smart voice assistant will be showcased in a VW Tiguan; the Fraunhofer IAIS developed the application in the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence ‘ Cognitive Internet Technologies ’, in collaboration with Volkswagen and the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS : Wearing a headset and virtual reality glasses, drivers will be taken on a virtual tour of Berlin while the assistant answers questions about the surroundings. The system will be on display at HANNOVER MESSE at the Fraunhofer Booth C22 in Hall 2.
