Heidenheim-based technology group Voith and Dusseldorf-based SMS digital have announced their cooperation . SMS digital is the digital subsidiary of SMS group GmbH, a market-leading supplier of digital solutions for plant and equipment in the steel and non-ferrous metals industry. In addition to the construction of equipment and facilities, Voith also specializes in services and digital solutions. Together, the companies now plan to design platform services for their respective IIoT solutions; both companies will also be able to offer new applications in each other’s core markets. This will give SMS digital the opportunity to introduce its Smart Alarm into the process industries and Voith the opportunity to offer its data access and analysis platform OnCumulus for enhancing the efficiency of manufacturing processes in the steel and non-ferrous metal industry, too. The customer gateways myVoith and mySMS will not be affected by the cooperation.
Cooperation appears to be high on the agenda at Voith: Just recently, the Group also announced its partnership with Munich-based technology and software company PerfectPattern to jointly develop AI solutions for industrial production environments.
