"Mexico's election as a Partner Country for the HANNOVER MESSE 2018 is a token that Mexico's vision and policies lean towards openness and integration. Through the window of this Messe, Mexico will portray the efficient and innovative products, processes and industries thriving in our country. Mexico's participation is an important opportunity to increase the already important trade and investment flows between Mexico and Germany. Germany is Mexico's most important trading partner in Europe (5th worldwide) and the 4th largest European investor (6th globally) in our country. But our bonds go beyond figures. Our business communities are linked by the deep belief that free trade is an engine for growth. "

Preparations for Mexico’s featured role as the Partner Country at HANNOVER MESSE 2018 are already in full swing. Although the world's leading industrial trade fair does not take place until next April, numerous players from Germany and Mexico are busy promoting the country’s appearance there.

Charged with organizing the Partner Country project, ProMéxico – the economic development agency within the Mexican Ministry of Economic Affairs – is already staging roadshows at major industrial locations in Mexico. The goal is to attract even more Mexican companies to exhibit at HANNOVER MESSE – a project supported not only by numerous economic and foreign trade institutions, but also by the embassies of both countries. The Mexican Minister of Economic Affairs, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, traveled to Hannover to sign the Partner Country contract last April, while President Peña Nieto is expected to join Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Opening Ceremony for HANNOVER MESSE 2018.

As the Partner Country to HANNOVER MESSE, Mexico has the opportunity to showcase its new technologies and investment opportunities before a global audience. It is already clear that Mexico will be focusing on the following areas: energy and environmental technologies, IT and digitization of industrial processes, automotive and aerospace, technology reform and diversification as well as education development, startups and export promotion.

One of Mexico’s stated goals is to position itself as a global provider of leading-edge technology, and to underscore this with statistics and examples of actual projects. HANNOVER MESSE will feature a central Partner Country pavilion where Mexican state institutions and official representatives will be in the spotlight. In addition, Mexican companies and research institutions will be highlighted at a number of stands located in thematically related sections of the show. Finally, numerous supporting forums and conferences will address issues of importance to Mexican industry and its global beneficiaries.
