HANNOVER MESSE 2024 once again underscores the importance of digitalization and connectivity in maintaining and advancing industrial production around the world. More and more tools, machines and systems are communicating with each other seamlessly and wirelessly to exchange data, coordinate processes and optimize maintenance. The focus of this process is the development of the 5G mobile communications standard, which enables numerous applications to improve economic processes. From port logistics to automated production and maintenance, 5G promotes efficiency and connectivity and serves as the backbone for Industry 4.0 and IIoT. The low latency enables time-critical networks, benefiting industries such as transportation, manufacturing and chemicals in particular.

The 5G and Wireless Arena at HANNOVER MESSE 2024 will therefore serve as a hub for experts and decision-makers to explore detailed solutions and examples of 5G technology in industry. In the middle of the special exhibition area, the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA), a working group of ZVEI (German Electrical and Digital Manufacturers' Association), will offer a comprehensive exhibition of industrial 5G technology, including routers, modules, security solutions and innovative devices, providing an immediate insight into the industry's progress.

A key focus of the 5G ACIA is on end users. A new membership category will be introduced to enable broader participation from industry representatives and drive connectivity in the industry. With this, the 5G-ACIA aims to foster collaboration between stakeholders and users from different industries to drive the adoption of 5G technologies for Industry 4.0. Companies from industries such as mining, chemicals, food, oil and gas can benefit significantly from membership of the 5G-ACIA. They will gain access to an important network of experts and companies that will enable them to deepen their understanding of 5G technologies and strengthen their competitiveness in the market.

The 5G-ACIA, which is made up of leading companies from the manufacturing, automation, telecommunications and research sectors, offers a holistic perspective on 5G integration in industry. One example of the 5G-ACIA's achievements are the current white papers that will be presented at HANNOVER MESSE. "NPNs for Industrial Scenarios" highlights the implementation of non-public networks (NPNs) in various industrial scenarios. The second white paper deals with the integration of OPC UA, a recognized standard that enables different devices to communicate with 5G via the same interface.

In summary, 5G, driven by initiatives such as 5G-ACIA, is central to Industry 4.0. Cross-industry collaborations are driving the development of standards and deployment scenarios and promoting a more efficient, connected and competitive industrial landscape.
