Turck, based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, is a global specialist in cross-industry factory, process and logistics automation. With its digitally networkable solutions for efficient automation systems, the company is one of the pioneers in the future-oriented topics of Industry 4.0 and IioT.

Turck recently introduced the MR15-Q80, a robust radar scanner that promptly made it onto the shortlist for the "messweb masters award 2024". The prize, which is awarded by the messweb editorial team together with their cooperation partner D&H Premium Events, honors outstanding technological achievements in the field of sensor technology, among other things. Turck's MR15-Q80 radar scanner has earned its nomination because it is currently the only device of its kind that is available not only with IO-Link but also with a J1939 interface for mobile machines. The radar scanner detects objects at a distance of up to 15 meters within the freely definable detection angle of 120 degrees horizontally and 100 degrees vertically at 60 gigahertz. Users can apply the data for 3D object detection, collision avoidance, height control or blind spot monitoring, for example. According to Turck, radar technology is inherently more robust than alternative solutions such as laser or ultrasonic sensors, which is why it is particularly well suited for use in mobile machines, in port facilities or for intralogistics applications. In addition to the position of objects, the MR15-Q80 also detects their movement and the intensity of the reflected waves. This data can be evaluated to distinguish objects or to fade out non-application-relevant, static interference objects.
