ContiTech is showcasing its extensive materials expertise at HANNOVER MESSE 2014. Highlights at the 500-square-meter exhibition stand include intelligent industrial materials made from rubber and plastic, as well as a timing belt made from polyurethane that withstands very high forces. Benecke-Kaliko, ContiTech's specialist for high-end covering and surface materials, is currently developing a seat cover that can be heated directly – and is presenting it in Hannover.

Vistors can try out this hot new innovation for themselves at the exhibition stand by sitting in a vehicle seat prototype and feeling how quickly the seat cover heats up. The advantages of this new type of heating compared with those in use until now: Benecke-Kaliko's invention warms up faster than conventional heating mats – with minimal power consumption. This also makes the heatable covering an ideal future solution for heating electric cars, which produce no engine heat and must carefully budget their power usage.

A second exhibit stands out not for its heat, but its strength. The sheer size of the polyurethane timing belt with a carbon tension member – an innovation from the ContiTech Power Transmission Group – is already impressive: it measures nearly five meters in length and 22 centimeters in width, which makes it unique in the market. The heavy-duty timing belt is designed for exceptional loads in large industrial machines and is already being used in practice. The carbon tension member enables the transmission of very high tensile forces and maximizes wear resistance and power range.

Its connections with Partner Country the Netherlands is another focus point for ContiTech, with the presentation of its subsidiary ContiTech Belgium which serves Dutch sales partners from its Belgian headquarters.
