Vestas Wind Systems participates in SOWITEC
By acquiring a minority stake in the German company, Vestas intends to broaden its position as a response to changing customer requirements arising from the energy transition. The Danes were also given an option to take over the entire company.

The core business of Vestas Wind Systems A/S , based in Aarhus, Denmark, includes the planning, development, production, sale and maintenance of wind energy technologies and wind turbines. The company recently announced that it will take over 25.1% of the share capital of the SOWITEC group f rom Sonnenbühl in Baden-Württemberg. Under the terms of the agreement, Vestas will have the option to acquire the remaining shares within three years after current transaction is closed.
As a specialist in the field of renewable energies, SOWITEC has developed more than 60 wind and solar energy projects worldwide with a total capacity of more than 2,600 MW. For Juan Araluce, Chief Sales Officer at Vestas, the partnership gives his company “access to an independent development company”, a better standing in strategic markets in Latin America and the competence to “meet the changing needs of our customers and work together with them in responding to the challenges of energy system transition.”
