With maximum candor
Murrelektronik from Oppenweiler shows that no stone is left unturned in automation. The Swabians go out into the field, decentralize, modularize, combine technologies, use energy more efficiently, reduce complexity, and as a result bring Vario-X with them to Hanover.

Vario-X is a consistently flexible and scalable automation platform with maximum openness and performance at all levels and at all interfaces. "Because the future of automation is without control cabinets and without compressed air - but networked, pluggable and cost-efficient," says Olaf Prein, Head of Global Business Unit Automation at Murrelektronik. As a modular automation platform that can be put together absolutely exactly as needed, Vario-X brings all automation components directly to the point of action.
For example, with seamless integration of decentralized servo drives, Vario-X ensures reliable voltage, signal and data management directly in the field. This means that for the first time, all automation functions can be implemented completely decentrally - without a control cabinet. The robust as well as water- and dust-proof housings with IP67 protection are simply snapped side by side into a no less robust backplane with integrated machine construction profiles. In this way, the entire station should be able to be easily attached to all common profile systems without any further protection and, in extreme cases, even withstand a step load on the housings. There are also positive side effects in terms of energy efficiency and space requirements. After all, when control cabinets become superfluous, less cooling is needed and more space is available on the shop floor, which can be used for value-added manufacturing equipment such as robots.
