The amount of newcomers in IT fields is steadily increasing, and digitalization is playing an ever more important role even in classic disciplines: “In networked production, IT skills and classic jobs go hand in hand,” explains Katja Tiltscher, Head of Training at Trumpf, who also keeps an eye open for up-and-coming talent . “Those studying or training in IT have to understand what mechanical engineers do. At the same time, engineers have to know what software they need for their machines. Things begin to merge, even with administration, which has to consider sheet metal parts and software for machine calculations, for example.”

Based on this insight, Trumpf has begun to reorganize its training program for technical, commercial and IT professions, with an “Industry 4.0 trainer” . The trainer coordinates all digital contents from the different fields of training – from basic IT skills to agile working methods – and supports trainees and student employees passing through the different stations within the company.
