Every year, more than 50 scientists from an interdisciplinary team work on projects with a total volume of around €6 million. The spectrum ranges from feasibility studies to complex development projects and multi-year research projects funded at federal and EU level. In keeping with the cross-sectional nature of information and automation technology, ifak's clients come from a wide range of industrial sectors in addition to electrical engineering.
In line with the institute's non-profit status, ifak is particularly involved in pre-competitive collaborative projects for which research funding is acquired. The scientific claim corresponds to the recognition as the first affiliated institute of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The institute's national and international cooperation network is complemented by its active involvement in a wide range of specialist committees.
