The standardization of artificial intelligence for industrial applications faces the challenge of coordinating and harmonizing standardization activities, as well as presenting a consolidated picture of the requirements and standardization needs regarding AI in the German economy. This challenge needs to be overcome both at national and international level so that appropriate standardization activities can be carried out in a coordinated manner.
The Expert Council on Artificial Intelligence for Industrial Applications plays an essential role in solving the outlined challenge and represents the hub for normative discussion and coordination. Associations, institutions, and consortia in particular stand out here with their activities with regard to the application and standardization of Artificial Intelligence. In order to avoid parallel duplication of work, to promote the exchange between the different activities and ultimately to develop an opinion that is as harmonized as possible, the Expert Council on Artificial Intelligence for Industrial Applications was set up by the Standardization Council Industry 4.0 (SCI4.0). It is necessary to comprehend that, a clear separation of horizontal and vertical standardization tasks is essential in order to develop higher-level standards in a targeted manner and to apply and refine them in different areas of application.
The Expert Council on Artificial Intelligence in industrial applications is in principle open to everyone. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us.
