CERANOD® natural anodizing is a proven electrochemical surface refinement process for aluminium. Through anodic oxidation, a uniform aluminium oxide hydrate layer (Eloxal) is formed – directly from the base material and covalently bonded to it. Unlike coating, no foreign material is applied.
The microporous structure of the oxide layer allows for effective color pigmentation. A subsequent sealing step closes the pores and protects the color. This makes the process ideal for both technical and decorative applications.
The oxide layer typically grows two-thirds into the material and one-third outward – a dimensional change important for precision parts. A high-quality surface preparation is essential and includes in-house options such as cleaning, chemical matting, satin finishing, polishing or brushing.
Our processes are tailored to the specific alloy and production requirements – from custom single parts to fully automated high-volume production with excellent reproducibility.
