Digital Standards encompass all relevant information for a standardization task, making it available in a way that is appropriate for the specific application. They can be initiated, compiled, processed, implemented and amended by people and machines alike.
Digital Standards form the link between development and application by combining the content of the standard (e.g. standards texts, official interpretation sheets etc.) with application information (e.g. comments from practical application, limiting value reviews etc.). and making them interchangeable.
The contents of standards must support future automatic processing and interpretation. In other words, the contents of standards must flow directly into the systems, concepts and formats used in industry so that they can develop their full standardization effect also in a digital future. Current standardization will have to go through comprehensive improvement and digital transformation, to the benefit of all users.
