EC-Inspector is an intuitive Windows application for analyzing and monitoring EtherCAT networks.
The program can be used independently of the controller and works with EtherCAT controllers from various manufacturers (including Beckhoff, Omron, Bosch-Rexroth, Lenze, acontis).
The EC-Inspector uses a TAP device (Test Access Point) to analyze all data traffic between the MainDevice and the EtherCAT SubDevice.
EC-Inspector does not require any intervention in the network, the controller, the EtherCAT MainDevice software or the configuration. EC-Inspector is therefore suitable for new installations (greenfield) as well as for existing systems and machines (brownfield). The raw data (EtherCAT frame) is decoded and assigned to the corresponding variables (inputs and outputs) on the basis of the EtherCAT network configuration file (ENI).
In addition to monitoring process data, the EC-Inspector can also be used to analyze communication errors in the EtherCAT network. If the EtherCAT MainDevice software regularly checks the slave error counter registers, this data can also be analysed by the EC-Inspector and the faults can be clearly visualized in the topology view.
