Our systems store surplus renewable electricity in the form of synthetic natural gas (SNG). The SNG is produced from hydrogen and CO₂ within our plant. This enables the Bernsteinsee holiday and leisure resort (Sassenburg | Lower Saxony) to utilize 100% of its solar power without feeding excess electricity into the grid.
The SNG can be combusted emission-free in standard combined heat and power (CHP) units and condensing boilers. Thanks to our unique closed-loop combustion process based on an adapted oxyfuel method, the combustion generates 100% CO₂. This CO₂ remains within the system and is reused for further SNG production. The result is a sustainable, clean energy solution with a closed SNG and CO₂ cycle.
