Description
Industry 4.0, Big Data and smart production are on everyone's lips. But while many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are still at the very beginning. With the offers of the Application Center IIoT-EDGE, KIT wants to inform about the possibilities of industrial networking and show ways how lighthouse projects become reality. Industry 4.0 or IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) already has many faces today: whether autonomous machines that adjust their processes themselves or predictive maintenance that minimizes downtimes. In the Application Center IIoT-EDGE at KIT, companies create their basis for such projects unbureaucratically in three modules. The kick-off lecture, module 1, addresses the management level and deals with real implementation examples and their consequences in terms of competitiveness and savings potential. In the second module, things get practical: factory automation with cloud application and the connection of edge devices are worked out in a practical manner with all the necessary basics. The aim of module 2 is to enable participants to collect data from their machines and to derive use cases with monetary added value from this, taking data security into account. Module 3 deals with the implementation of an individual use case from the participant's own company. For this purpose, development is carried out directly on the company's own machine in the Application Center. In this way, the application is optimally tailored to the machine and the needs of the participants. In the Application Center, companies are given the opportunity to recognize the value of their own data and to harness this value in individual applications that offer massive savings potential.
You can get an overview of this technology at KIT stand. More details can be exchanged individually with the responsible scientific employees of KIT after the industry fair.
