The indoor and outdoor medium voltage instrument transformers that TWB SA manufactures are magnetic voltage transformers with cast-resin insulation. The insulating medium is outdoor-proof cycloaliphatic cast resin, which has proven its high quality in both laboratory tests since 1961 and in installed transformers since 1966.
The cast resin is poured under vacuum and cured under a heat and vacuum cycle. An insulating material of high electrical and mechanical qualities, which is resistant to ageing, is thus obtained.
All the transformers' components are built and assembled in our factory, including the magnetic cores in order to have complete control of the quality and achieve the best performance of the final product.
The magnetic cores are tested after the annealing procedure. The windings are assembled with the core and together are semi conductive shielded in order to achieve homogenous electrical field. At this point the transformer is tested for its accuracy class. Afterwards, extra electrical shields are mounted and the transformer is casted under vacuum. Finally the transformer is assembled and all the IEC 60044-1 & 60044-2 routine tests are performed.
