Lightweight construction is a key technology. Industrial enterprises world-wide are striving to reduce the weight and improve the quality of their products. Coupled with innovative design, new lightweight materials save energy and materials, reduce CO2 emissions, while at the same time enhancing the robustness and efficiency of the product. Smart, lightweight systems are acquiring ever greater importance throughout industry – in the automotive sector, in mechanical and plant engineering, and in the energy sector.
A lightweight stage for the entire HANNOVER MESSE: The Integrated Lightweight Plaza is the central lightweight construction platform for all materials and processes and the meeting point for lightweight construction enthusiasts from all sectors - equipped with an exhibition area, speakers' corner, live demonstrations and a lounge for discussions. Use the Plaza for your highlight exhibits, project studies and live demonstrations.
In the Speakers' Corner at the heart of the Integrated Lightweight Plaza, the subject of lightweight construction will be examined in all its facets across all industries and the entire spectrum of modern lightweight construction will be presented: from lightweight material construction to lightweight construction and innovative joining techniques. In short presentations, speakers from industry and research will present their developments, products and research results in a compact and precise manner.

Additive manufacturing: Efficiency gains for development engineering, production and other applications
3D printing is revolutionizing the world of industrial manufacturing. Among its many uses are on-the-fly prototyping for product engineering and design, the creation of high-performance manufacturing tools, or resource-friendly ways of achieving continuous operations. By getting the full picture on additive product engineering and manufacturing, you can unlock utterly new potential for your business.
Real-world applications of additive manufacturing will be presented at the international Additive Manufacturing Symposium on 21 April 2020, featuring leading makers of AM equipment as well as successful users of additively manufactured components.
The agenda will be rounded off by a special Additive Manufacturing Guided Tour (in German and English) taking participants to selected exhibitors who will present their AM solutions and innovations.
31 January 2020 is the deadline for submitting your lecture proposal for the 6th Additive Manufacturing Symposium. Your lecture can be on any of the following topics:
Please submit your lecture proposal by completing and sending us the official Call for Papers form. A time slot of about 20 minutes will be allocated for each lecture. Lectures can be given in either English or German. The selection of lectures is at the sole discretion of the Additive Manufacturing Association in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and Deutsche Messe.
The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology has invited visitors to the first lightweight construction summit at HANNOVER MESSE 2019 - and the interest could not have been greater. With more than 350 decision-makers from industry, politics and research, the 1st Lightweighting Summit was a successful premiere. Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier called lightweight construction a game changer technology whose full potential cannot yet be estimated.
Preparations are currently underway for the continuation of the Summit as part of HANNOVER MESSE 2020.
