At Daimler AG, the signs are pointing to the future: As part of its e-mobility offensive, the automaker recently began construction of a new battery factory and is working on the ‘Data Layer’ project, with the goal of creating digital twins of every delivered vehicle. For this project, the company is using Linksphere Terra from Conweaver GmbH , a digitalization solution that dynamically networks heterogeneous data from IT systems, thereby enabling smart data aggregation.

Daimler collates data from all available disciplines, such as development and technology, integrates a large number of backend systems along the entire value chain, and accesses different databases to make the digital copies of the vehicles as comprehensive and detailed as possible. The basis for this are special Linksphere Terra functions that also enable precise queries about data relations. Daimler has unveiled a first concrete result in the form of its BTV Cockpit: This cockpit enables part managers (‘BTV’) to access intelligently linked lifecycle information from different source systems.
