The STEM Cycle Route “The Technical One” was officially opened in September this year in bright sunshine and a relaxed atmosphere. Representatives of the municipality of Igersheim, WITTENSTEIN SE and members of the Wittenstein family of entrepreneurs attended the ceremony at Station 5 in Harthausen, where the symbolic act of cutting the ribbon opened the cycle route to the public.

The MINT Cycle Path, which was conceived for Dr. Manfred Wittenstein's 80th birthday in 2022, combines mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT) with sports and nature experiences in the lovely Taubertal in an entertaining and appealing way. The approximately 6.5-kilometer route leads through the idyllic landscape and invites you to gain exciting insights into technology and natural sciences at five interactive stations. Each station is supported by a regional partner, including the Kinder forschen foundation, the Jugendtechnikschule Main-Tauber and the Junge Kreative Köpfe foundation.

Frank Menikheim, mayor of the municipality of Igersheim, emphasized the relevance of the project: “The MINT Cycle Path is a pioneering flagship project that inspires people of all ages. Here, both the scenic beauty of the Tauber Valley and the fascinating world of technology can be experienced in a special way and in motion.”

Dr. Anna-Katharina Wittenstein, representing the Wittenstein family of entrepreneurs, was also moved: “It fills us with pride to see this project realized in our home region. The STEM Cycle Path pays tribute to the life's work of my father, Dr. Manfred Wittenstein, and brings his passion for technology and education to future generations.”

The individual stations along the cycle path offer a variety of interactive experiences. From generating electricity through movement on the barrel drum to the acoustic experiments in the forest listener – each station invites you to explore technology in an innovative and playful way. The last station in Harthausen is particularly impressive: not only does it encourage physical activity with a movement garden, but it also offers an interesting view of the WITTENSTEIN premises.

The STEM Cycle Path, which is now open to all visitors, promises to be a new highlight in the charming Tauber Valley, appealing to both nature and technology enthusiasts. It impressively combines a fascination for technology with the region's natural beauty and makes an important contribution to technical education for young and old alike.
