The requirements for small and compact packaging machines are constantly increasing and, due to cost pressure, implementation is either not possible or only possible at great expense. Innovative ideas are therefore often thwarted by economic issues. With the StarterSET compact, the drive specialists at SEW-EURODRIVE now offer an attractive and economical solution without any loss of performance.

The StarterSET compact includes two compact inverters, two gearmotors and a controller with preselected, bundled automation software based on the standardized MOVI-C modular automation system. This compact modular system offers sufficient design freedom for machine building. The StarterSET compact 514 for vertical filling and sealing machines (VFFS), for example, includes all necessary automation components (hardware and software) for the "tubing bag machine" basic application. With this approach, SEW-EURODRIVE is moving away from traditional automation project planning. By starting with the target machine and working backwards from the machine, the required components are pre-projected based on the target machine and the StarterSET is offered as a basic package.

The StarterSET compact focuses on efficiency and therefore includes the compact MOVITRAC advanced inverter with MOVILINK DDI digital motor interface with single-cable technology. In addition to the coordinated hardware components, a comprehensive software package (MOVIKIT bundle) is available that includes all the necessary functions for the respective application, thereby reducing costs. This license model gives users the freedom and flexibility to decide whether they want to implement their functions drive-related or as a central motion controller. Among other things, extensive and versatile PackML-compliant programming templates with front-end content are available for this purpose. The solution package is rounded off with standardized communication interfaces such as OPC-UA, Profinet, EtherNET/IP and web visualization.

The StarterSET compact can be extensively customized and individualized with all its advantages as a package for small and compact machines with up to six axes thanks to the broad product portfolio of SEW-EURODRIVE. Possible applications include, for example, carton erectors, case packers, gantry and portal systems, cutting machines and form-fill-seal machines.
