In accordance with the European Machinery Directive, machines and units need to feature an emergency stop button to limit or prevent danger when disaster strikes. One of the leading suppliers of such safety mechanisms is Murrelektronik GmbH. Its emergency stop and reset buttons can be integrated into electronic installations via standard pre-assembled M12 cables, which both saves time and eliminates the risk of wiring errors. Best of all, these control devices can be built into machines and systems with minimum fuss, in keeping with the "plug & play" principle.
The buttons have proven a particular hit for installations with decentralized controlling and signaling devices, such as safety barriers and production stations. Measuring 42 mm in width, the extra-compact versions are perfectly suited to applications such as creating connections to standard aluminum profiles. Certain variants of the emergency stop buttons also feature illuminated reset buttons in the housing. These can be integrated into installation solutions so that they light up to signal when the machine can be restarted. As an added extra, Murrelektronik now supplies five colored caps for each button, enabling operators to create different lighting effects for each application.
