A new era of industrial transformation
Anyone wondering how sustainable Europe still is as an industrial location received an impressive answer on November 4 this year: Deutsche Telekom and NVIDIA want to provide around 50 percent more computing power for artificial intelligence (AI) in Germany in the near future. In the presence of high-ranking representatives from politics, business, and science, the companies celebrated the first major milestone for the world's first industrial AI cloud in Munich.

The aim is to create one of Europe's largest AI infrastructures, which is scheduled to go into operation in just a few months, in the first quarter of 2026. “Mechanical engineering and industry have made this country strong,” says Tim Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom. "But we are also facing challenges here. AI is a huge opportunity. It will help us improve our products and strengthen our European strengths. In just six months, we are turning an idea into real AI computing power, made for Germany."
Germany is becoming Europe's leading sovereign AI hotspot
The Industrial AI Cloud from Telekom and NVIDIA is designed to enable large organizations, SMEs, and startups in Germany and Europe to develop, train, and deploy AI for any manufacturing application, from design to robotics, via a secure and sovereign IT infrastructure. To achieve this ambitious goal, more than a thousand NVIDIA DGX B200 systems and NVIDIA RTX PRO servers – with up to 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs – are currently being installed in a completely renovated data center in Munich with accelerated workloads using NVIDIA CUDA-X, NVIDIA Omniverse, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software. Thanks to the computing power that will be available in the future – built as a purely private-sector initiative – Germany is set to become Europe's leading sovereign AI hotspot.
One of the largest deployments of GPUs in Germany
“Germany's strength in engineering and industry is legendary,” notes Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, adding, "And now it's being further enhanced by AI. With the world's first Industrial AI Cloud and one of the largest deployments of GPUs in Germany, we are bringing NVIDIA AI and robotics here to usher in a new era of industrial transformation." The first users of this new era have already been named in Munich: SAP and Deutsche Telekom want to use the emerging opportunities to jointly create a secure and powerful digital infrastructure for public institutions and internal security. Telekom is providing the physical infrastructure, while SAP is supplying the SAP Business Technology Platform and applications, including modern AI technologies. In the future, all digital solutions for these target groups will be developed on the joint “Germany Stack.” In doing so, both companies want to guarantee the highest standards of data protection, security, and reliability and establish a partnership that stands for digital sovereignty “Made in Germany.”
Speed, scientific breakthroughs, and strategic autonomy
Siemens, Agile Robots, Wandelbots, Quantum Systems, PhysicsX, and Perplexity are also among the companies striving to create a new sovereign AI ecosystem with the Industrial AI Cloud from Telekom and NVIDIA. Sven Kruck, co-CEO of Quantum Systems, sees the AI Factory as an important milestone on the road to establishing sovereign, secure, and scalable AI infrastructures in Europe: "The AI Factory can play a decisive role in enabling Europe to train AI models securely and scale computing power flexibly. We welcome initiatives that strengthen Europe's strategic independence in the age of AI," said Kruck. Jacomo Cobo, CEO of PhysicsX, also welcomes NVIDIA's initiative: “We are excited to bring the PhysicsX platform to the Industrial AI Cloud and, together with our partners, usher in a new era of industry-driven growth in Europe—an era characterized by speed, scientific breakthroughs, and strategic autonomy.”
