The founding members of the association include the intralogistics expert Syskron , which is a subsidiary of the mechanical engineering company Krones from Neutraubling in Oberpfalz, and the technological institute for applied artificial intelligence of the digital service provider Samhammer from Weiden, also in Oberpfalz. Other companies, universities and startups have been invited to join the association. Its aim is to support the Free State of Bavaria in becoming a leading region in the world for the new technology. The association also wants to make further contacts itself, including internationally. The intention is to establish interaction with other innovation ecosystems.

Across Germany, over 160 companies are part of the Federal AI Association . Its aims also include supporting cooperation. In addition, it is committed to creating more innovation-friendly legal security and to support the use of AI technologies in the service of human beings.
