Headquartered in Munich with more than 100 employees, Designaffairs was founded in 1997 and specializes in digital product and brand development. Its portfolio includes industrial, materials and user interface design, innovation consulting, engineering and usability expertise, prototyping, design research and brand strategy. The company has already won numerous awards and its customers include Hyundai and Siemens. Designaffairs is to become part of Accenture's "Industry X.0" business unit and above all reinforce activities in the key markets of Germany and China. Nico Michler remains CEO after the acquisition and nothing has been announced about the purchase price to date.
Accenture continues its high pace of expansion with the announced acquisition. The consultancy took over ten agencies in 2017 alone, including the digital service provider Sinner Schrader - for an estimated purchase price of 100 million euros. January 2018 was followed by the announcement of the acquisition of Mackevision , the award-winning service provider of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI).
Accenture is not alone in doing so. The major consultancies have long identified digital services as a future field and been acquiring one digital agency after another in recent months. For example, EY bought the strategy consultancy etventure , while the Boston Consulting Group swallowed up Maya Design .
