is the fifth largest in the world in terms of land area, the seventh most populous, the sixth among emerging markets, and the largest economy in Latin America. We are home to the largest industrial complexes on the continent, in a sustained drive of domestic and foreign investment, focused on leveraging existing potential, innovation, and reconciling economic growth with sustainability. It is in this context that Brazil takes center stage at Hannover Messe, where it will be the official partner country in 2026, showing the world the results of a successful strategy to enhance the potential of Brazilian industry, boost economic sectors, and attract international investment. Today, we are a trusted, reliable, and sustainable trading partner in a global context of uncertainty.
This participation in Europe's largest industry fair also reflects the recent growth of the Brazilian economy and the strong commitment to industrial development through the policies of President Lula's government, such as the Nova Indústria Brasil (NIB) program, launched in January 2024. The government initiative, with targets set until 2033, initially foresees investments of approximately €56.28 billion until 2026 to reindustrialize the country, increase competitiveness in the global market, and position Brazil as an example in energy transition, decarbonization, and green industry. The Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, is leading this program at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Services.

Government IInitiative Nova Indústria Brasil
Nova Indústria sets ambitious goals for the coming years, distributed across six missions in strategic areas such as agribusiness, health, infrastructure, digitization, bioeconomy and decarbonization, and defense. The initiative envisages, for example: achieving 70% mechanization in family farming and ensuring that at least 95% of the machinery and equipment used is manufactured domestically; acquiring 70% autonomy in the production of medicines and vaccines; reducing commuting time from home to work by 20%; digitizing 90% of Brazilian industries; reducing CO2 emissions by 30% per added value of the industry's Gross Domestic Product (GDP); increasing the share of biofuels and electric vehicles in transportation to 27% by 2026 and 50% by 2033; and achieving 50% autonomy in the production of critical technologies for defense.
To get there, the Nova Indústria program focuses on four strategic areas: a more productive industry, with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; a more innovative and digital industry, through research, development, and innovation projects; a more export-oriented industry, which provides incentives for access to the international market; and a greener industry with a focus on sustainable projects.
After a year of implementation, the results are already visible, such as 3.1% growth in industrial production and a record US$181.9 billion in manufacturing exports. These advances demonstrate how the joint effort between the government, civil society, and the productive sector has strengthened Brazilian industry, positioning it as a positive asset for economic growth, international trade, foreign direct investment, and relations between peoples.
At HANNOVER MESSE 2026, Brazil will be present as a green, digital, and innovative industrial power, prepared for the challenges of the future. We are showing that economic growth and sustainability can go hand in hand. Brazil's industry of the present and the future will be in Hannover in 2026.
