AI as a Major Force for Transformation
At HANNOVER MESSE 2026, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) will showcase a series of exhibits demonstrating how AI bridges the gap between research and practical applications—from robotics and logistics to medicine, management, and process optimization.

By 2030, artificial intelligence is expected to account for ten percent of economic value creation—yet the path from the laboratory to the factory floor, clinic, and control center remains the greatest challenge. At HANNOVER MESSE 2026, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) will demonstrate how this transfer can succeed. With a total of twelve exhibits at the DFKI booth in Hall 11, as well as additional exhibits at partner booths, the DFKI will present practical projects that bring the transfer from research to industrial application to life.
The DFKI demonstrates how modern AI methods can be applied across various domains. Intelligent robotic systems support resource extraction on the Moon as well as the simulation of weightlessness—and prove equally effective in industrial goods logistics. As assistance and decision-support systems, AI technologies demonstrate their effectiveness in a wide variety of application areas: from medical diagnostics and therapy to operational management decisions and legal contract review. Furthermore, as a process modeler, AI optimizes complex workflows—for example, in medium-sized manufacturing companies or in a hospital emergency room—thereby contributing to increased efficiency, transparency, and quality assurance.
