Emerson, the world’s leading provider of automation solutions, announces PACEdge Version 3.0, the latest evolution of its IIoT software platform, which is designed to enable AI capabilities and seamless application deployment for edge devices. The enhancements to the PACEdge platform allow teams in the life sciences, oil and gas, packaging, food and beverage, and many other industries to more intuitively secure, deploy, and standardize edge applications to maximize efficiency and productivity in their operations.
From Data Silos to Targeted AI Applications
Modern manufacturers are increasingly leveraging the vast amounts of data available from their IIoT devices to support AI-powered image processing applications, inference, and analytics tools. These new workflows optimize the operational decisions necessary to secure competitive advantages. However, the required data is often scattered across numerous different IIoT technologies, making it difficult to transform this data into actionable insights. PACEdge Version 3.0 builds on the platform’s ability to aggregate data from a wide range of technologies and easily deliver it to containerized applications such as AI-based analytics, computer vision systems, and intuitive visualizations.
Competitive Advantages at the Point of Value Creation
“Given increasing competition, the skills shortage, and the rise of AI, delivering software in the most powerful and cost-effective way is a critical factor for competitive advantage,” said Sean Saul, Vice President of Product in Emerson’s Process Systems and Solutions business unit. “The PACEdge 3.0 software platform offers a range of tools and services that enable teams to more easily deploy or develop their own analytics, AI, and machine learning applications, dashboards, graphics, and data visualizations—as close as possible to the point of value creation. This version helps customers realize operational value from edge applications more quickly through simpler and more scalable deployment.”
Centralized Control via Group Manager
The latest enhancements to the PACEdge platform introduce a Group Manager for more intuitive device management. The Group Manager feature enables teams to remotely manage device groups across a site or enterprise. Supported by an intuitive graphical user interface, users can deploy new features such as updated dashboards, security updates, operating system updates, and other functions.
Simplified app deployment via a central repository
The enhanced integration of the App Marketplace also makes it easier for users to run containerized workloads at the edge in a secure environment. Users have access to a central repository for apps available in the PACEdge Marketplace and can browse or search for apps specifically designed to support their individual operational workflows, which can be deployed with minimal effort.
