At Autodesk University 2026, held September 15–17 in Las Vegas, Autodesk unveiled new agent-based AI capabilities across its three Industry Clouds: Autodesk Forma for architecture, engineering, and construction; Autodesk Fusion for design and manufacturing; and Autodesk Flow for media and entertainment. Together, these new features define the next generation of Autodesk Assistant. The new assistant extends Autodesk’s agent-based AI beyond individual tools to products, projects, and teams, leveraging connected project data to understand not only the prompt but also the project context behind the query.

From Individual Tools to a Cross-Product Assistant

Autodesk Assistant is already generally available in many Autodesk products, including Fusion, Forma, and Flow. There, it helps customers use AI-powered features directly within the tools they’re already working with. The next generation of the assistant goes beyond individual products. Professionals no longer need to know which Autodesk product or AI feature they need for a task. Instead, the assistant starts with the desired outcome, provides the relevant information and features, and leaves control in the hands of the professionals.

Industry expertise is intended to make AI results more reliable

“The limiting factor in our industries has never been a lack of ideas. It’s capacity,” says Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk. “And for professionals in design and manufacturing, ‘probably right’ is wrong, because their work has real-world consequences. Our three Industry Clouds—Forma, Fusion, and Flow—connect the people, data, and workflows that keep our industries running. With Autodesk Assistant, we’re already bringing intelligence to our customers today; the next generation will extend this work environment across products, projects, and teams. And because this intelligence is built on more than four decades of Autodesk’s industry expertise, we can provide customers with the right capabilities at the right moment. This allows them to focus on the problem they need to solve—not on the product they’re using to solve it.”

Project Context Determines Feasibility

Autodesk’s advantage lies not only in understanding what a customer wants to achieve. Autodesk combines project intelligence with the specialized capabilities for design, engineering, simulation, manufacturing, and production needed to turn an intention into reliable real-world results. General AI can draw conclusions across many types of information, but Autodesk’s software solutions have an understanding of the real world—including geometry, constraints, physics, processes, and project workflows—that is, the project components that determine whether something can actually be designed, built, manufactured, or produced.
