Always keeping an eye on things
With Rotary Wiper, an easy-to-install and particularly robust image processing system, Kowa's machine vision division aims to dramatically improve CNC machining processes.

Kowa Optimed, Inc. is a subsidiary of Kowa Company Limited and as such stands for the rich heritage of one of Japan's largest privately held companies. Since its founding in 1894, Kowa has grown into a multinational corporation involved in various manufacturing and trading businesses including optics, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, textiles, and other consumer products.
Kowa's Machine Vision division develops and manufactures high-quality lenses and cameras for industrial image processing and optical quality control. Kowa's industrial lenses and cameras repeatedly set new standards in terms of clarity and performance, supporting users in machine vision, security, traffic control and other fields. Kowa's ruggedized product line for use in particularly challenging environmental conditions (vibration, shock, etc.) should also be emphasized.
At HANNOVER MESSE 2025, Kowa is presenting the Rotary Wiper solution – an easy-to-install vision system with effective built-in protection against the harsh environmental conditions that occur during the production of machine tools. The Rotary Wiper plays a crucial role in maintaining a clear view of the CNC process for external monitoring, resulting in significantly improved production efficiency by eliminating frequent machine stops and reducing delays.
The easy-to-install Rotary Wiper is a self-contained vision system that includes a water- and oil-resistant housing, lens, camera, cabling and software. It is a complete system that provides a consistently clear view in the CNC manufacturing environment. Vision systems without this technology are often useless due to the large amount of residue and material generated in production. However, Kowa's system with a recording option should make it possible to reliably monitor the inside of the machine tool.
