Measuring, controlling, regulating - in the field of industrial automation technology the ifm group of companies based in Essen has been one of the leading contacts since its foundation in 1969. Speaking of trade fairs - at HANNOVER MESSE 2022 ifm will be one of the large number of exhibitors who prefer real on-site contact with their customers to the virtual presence that is also possible. Among other things, the Essen-based company therefore has a real innovation in its luggage: its Dualis 2D vision sensor for object detection and object inspection in just one device.

Whether missing retaining clips, threads that have not been milled, too much adhesive or a defectively shaped component: the new Dualis is supposed to be able to detect all of this with ease - as well as any other deviation of the inspection part from the specified target state. Inspection parameters such as surface areas, contours, omissions or object rotation can be viewed and evaluated both individually and in combination. Thanks to its integrated daylight filter, the Dualis is extremely resistant to ambient light, and an optional polarizing filter ensures reliable detection of particularly highly reflective objects. The new Dualis is set up with the user-oriented software ifm Vision Assistant, with which even complex tasks can be defined quickly. The reliable quality assurance is rounded off by real-time maintenance options. For example, changes in the continuously checked image sharpness and the image brightness indicate an unintentional misalignment. In this case the sensor sends an automatic warning and can be readjusted or replaced if necessary. The latter can be done quickly thanks to the integrated ifm memory stick on which all settings and parameters required for operation are stored. This reduces the workload considerably.
