ARENA2036 stands for “Active Research Environment for the Next generation of Automobiles” and is one of nine research campuses of the funding initiative “Research Campus - public-private partnership for innovation” in Germany. ARENA2036 is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is managed as a registered association with members from science and industry. Together with many members, colleagues and project teams, the association will be presenting itself to visitors at HANNOVER MESSE 2025 with a joint stand.
Among the participants at the joint stand is ARENA2036-X, an initiative to create a data room-based test and demonstration environment at the ARENA2036 research campus, based on Catena-X and the administration shell technologies. The aim is to facilitate sovereign data exchange and promote the application of these technologies beyond the automotive industry. By bringing together Industrie 4.0, Gaia-X and Catena-X technologies in one place, the broad industrial application of these approaches is to be supported.
The Industrial Metaverse ARENA2036 serves as a showcase and sandbox for metaverse technologies to link real and virtual worlds in a real-world laboratory and to test and scale innovative solutions for industry by integrating various technologies such as AI, simulation and VR/XR/AR.
The DigiTain project develops digital approaches for the development and certification of sustainable electric drives. Supported by 26 partners and funded by the German government and the EU, it integrates ecological and economic sustainability into the development process from the outset. ARENA2036 leads the knowledge transfer to disseminate the results beyond the consortium and to raise public awareness of sustainable technologies.
The Transformation-Hub Wire Harness is an initiative to support transformation processes in the wire harness industry, particularly in the context of the automotive industry. This platform aims to connect research results and practical needs within the industry. It is based on an end-to-end transfer model designed to capture the requirements of companies and to accompany them step by step through to the implementation of so-called lighthouse projects.
The project Administrative Shell for the Wire Harness (VWS4LS) aims to digitalize wire harness production in the automotive sector. By means of a digital twin, the administrative shell, the complex manufacturing process of wire harnesses – the nervous system of a vehicle – is to be made more efficient, resilient and flexible.
