App automates machine billing
Pay-per-use made easy: The new IoT (Internet of Things) app is integrated in the machine park via sensors and enables automatic billing, making it easier for manufacturing companies to lease machines.

The IoT app has been developed by IT software and service provider Compacer, based in Gärtringen in Baden-Württemberg. It enables machine manufacturers not only to offer their products as leasing objects, but to also market them via usage-based billing models. The relevant term or workload can be selected as the basis for billing. The data collected by the sensors is transferred to the MindSphere cloud in real time; invoices can then be generated automatically by means of e-invoicing . The sensor data can also be used for predictive maintenance purposes.
In addition to the machine supplier and the manufacturer, the bank constitutes the third party in this pay-per-use model. As part of e-invoicing, it handles the financial transactions involved in billing. This enables processes to be sustainably optimized, value chains extended, and new business models set up.
