FISCHER Fuel Cell Compressor AG (FFCC), headquartered in Herzogenbuchsee in the Swiss canton of Bern, is a technology leader in the field of air compressors for fuel cells. Based on its patented spiral groove bearing technology, the Swiss company now has a wide range of high-tech products and thus plays a central role as a partner to globally leading companies in the field of fuel cell technology.

High-tech in series production

After years of research and development, FFCC has recently invested heavily in industrialisation and series production and is now launching a new, even more powerful and, above all, cost-optimised product generation on this basis. With these compressors, the Swiss are not only pushing their business model, but also innovative and sustainable mobility: thanks to the highest power density and controllable mass flows, the turbo compressors enable particularly efficient operation of fuel cells. The number of layers required in the stack can be reduced while maintaining the same power, which noticeably reduces hydrogen consumption. An effect that is further enhanced by the use of the additional turbine. FFCC's declared goal is to realise the complete fuel cell system in an even more cost-optimised way.

For a long life full of energy

Despite their compact dimensions, the turbo compressors developed in Switzerland offer impressive performance. Space and weight savings in turn open up new design possibilities for fuel cell manufacturers. The FISCHER compressors also include a sophisticated electric drive that brings the optimised compressor wheels directly up to the highest speeds. Finally, with the spiral groove bearing technology already mentioned, the compressors are designed for many years of trouble-free operation, whether in stationary or mobile applications. In its in-house test facilities, FFCC has been able to demonstrate 200,000 maintenance-free start-stop cycles as well as wear-free operating times of well over 10,000 hours.
