According to a Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) article , the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence (BCAI) is one of the leading AI research institutions in the world. However, it should be noted that the metrics for the list were created by a BCAI employee. His standard was the number of publications presented by companies at the two most important AI conferences (the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) in Los Angeles and the Neural Information Processing Systems Conference (NIPS) , which is held in various locations) after passing a strict selection process. Google outstrips the other companies in the top four by far with its three in-house departments (Google, Google Brain and Deepmind). Only Microsoft was able to come close to the Google companies on the list. Bosch was ranked at seven.
The company intends to invest around 300 million euros in its BCAI program by 2021. The institute has campuses in Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Pittsburgh, Bangalore and Silicon Valley. Bosch CEO Volkmar Denner has announced that by 2025, every product from the company will either work with AI or have a production process supported by the technology.
