The U.S. technology company PTC, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, is now adding CAM Studio Beta to the cloud-native capabilities of its Onshape suite. CAM Studio integrates computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) directly into the Onshape platform, streamlining the connection between design and production workflows.

As the industry's first cloud-native solution, CAM Studio combines computer-aided design (CAD), CAM and product data management (PDM). This enables design and manufacturing teams to plan, simulate and collaborate on machining processes. The version provides a complete design-to-manufacturing solution that increases productivity and creates new opportunities for Onshape users in global manufacturing companies.

“With CAM Studio running directly within the Onshape cloud-native platform, users get integrated version control and a central repository for their manufacturing strategies,” said David Katzman, General Manager of Onshape and Arena, PTC. “This ensures seamless collaboration, eliminates the risks of file-based workflows, and provides unrivaled traceability throughout the design-to-manufacturing process. CAM Studio is a testament to our commitment to empowering teams with tools that boost productivity and drive innovation.”

CAM Studio supports 2.5- and 3-axis machining with the most common manufacturing strategies and machines. For users with more advanced manufacturing requirements, CAM Studio Advanced offers extended functionality, including advanced 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining strategies.
