Delta, a global leader in power management and intelligent, sustainable IoT solutions, has reached an important milestone for its D-Bot series collaborative robots (cobots). These have been recognized with the prestigious German Design Award 2025 in the “Excellent Product Design” category. The accolade, which follows on from winning the Red Dot Design Award 2024 in Singapore earlier this year, underlines Delta's outstanding design capabilities and commitment to innovation.

Industry-leading safety, efficiency and practicality

Michael Mayer-Rosa, Senior Director of Industrial Automation Business Group at Delta Electronics EMEA Region, stated, “We are very innovation-driven and consistently invest over eight percent of our revenue in R&D. The German Design Council's recognition validates our success in designing our cobots and in developing innovative smart manufacturing solutions. The cobot market is one of the fastest growing sectors in automation technology and has already passed the one billion dollar mark. With a design that offers industry-leading safety, efficiency and practicality, we believe that D-Bots will meet the demanding requirements of companies in a wide range of applications.”

European customers expect the highest level of safety

When designing the Delta D-Bots, safety was and is at the top of the list of specifications, especially since the cobots are designed to interact with personnel in production environments. According to Delta, the resulting “Reflex Safety” function detects contact at lightning speed and immediately reverses movement to prevent accidents and protect both personnel and equipment. The integration of high-end sensors and collision detection (one-finger tap) is designed to further maximize safety.

European innovation for global use

The D-Bot series is designed for rapid deployment and can be set up in less than two hours, making it ideal for dynamic production environments. With impressive accuracy of plus or minus 0.02 millimeters and a payload capacity of six to 30 kilograms, D-Bots are versatile and can handle a wide range of tasks, from assembling complex components to handling heavy pallets. These collaborative robots are designed and developed in Europe and built for the world.

The German Design Award

The German Design Awards, presented by the German Design Council, are among the most prestigious awards in the design industry. They are recognized worldwide and set standards for outstanding design across all industries. The awards show how design can promote sustainable economic growth and underscore the importance of innovation in today's market. The title “Winner” is awarded to exceptional designs in certain categories, which have been selected by a diverse jury of design experts from 16 different countries for the 2025 awards.
