Company maps show the digital need for action
Some industrial companies are finding it difficult to deal with the digital transformation. In North Rhine-Westphalia, companies are gathering experience with so-called company maps. The first practical success stories are now becoming apparent.

The idea of the company map was developed in 2015 by the consultancy Sustain Consult . It is intended to show the different effects of technological change in various areas of the company in order to derive appropriate measures based on it. The instrument was further developed together with IG Metall NRW . An advantage of this is that the technology, the employees, their work and the organization as a whole are all taken into account. The map also allows the results to be presented graphically and by business unit.
That's the theory. In practice, the lighting solution provider Trilux is one of the first companies in North Rhine-Westphalia to have implemented the map, reports the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper . To do so, discussions were first held with almost all employees and workshops were organized. This resulted in the "Industry and Work 4.0 Company Map", which ultimately led to an agreement about the future between management and the works council. Among other things, it will focus on the further qualification of employees and personnel measures, such as the opportunity to spend taster days in other departments.
