CT systems are used not only in research and development departments, but now also in production for quality control, for example, or as an inline system in manufacturing. With its new CT inline solution , Yxlon is presenting a product line for the requirements of the foundry 4.0. The system uses complete datasets for each individual object and thus ensures consistent product quality and ongoing process optimization. In order to facilitate non-disruptive testing of the components in the cycle of series production, the manufacturer has, it, reports, combined a robust mechanism and precise detectors with the inline analytical software of the specialist provider Microvista .
Researchers in Cologne and Bonn are currently working on other applications for CT systems in the area of quality control : sputtering of material surfaces with gold should soon enable the systems to analyze significantly finer surface structures than previously.
